I started just doing odd embroidery jobs as a hobby, and a
few sewing repair jobs like hems and buttons. Then I was asked if I
would be interested in doing some shirts for a small business
which had only just started and had only two employees. The
larger embroidery businesses would not help them because they
only had a small order so this planted the seed for my business.
I also started helping out another small embroidery business,
sewing embroidered pockets on shirts, and reflectors on drill
shirts and pants.
When I showed the owner of that business some of the
embroidery work I had done he began encouraging me to start up
my own business. He arranged for me to meet some people at a
Brisbane craft show in 2007, and that's when I decided I was
ready to run my own embroidery business.
I bought a better embroidery machine, started to get a few
small jobs, and word of mouth spread. Now I have a business at
my Caboolture home that has gone from a few small jobs to the
point it is now.
